Stars and Stripes Forever

Memorial Day concert at Flag Pole Hill

I love weddings

I love going to weddings. I love being in weddings. I love singing in weddings. I loved planning a wedding. I love weddings. No matter who or what, I get all teary eyed during the ceremony every time. When the big doors open and the beautiful bride makes her entrance, I like to watch the groom -- it's priceless. Last night, Jason & I attended the wedding of a college friend of his. It was beautiful and lots of fun. The reception was at The Arboretum which is one of my favorite places in Dallas. As soon as the band started playing, Caroline started to boogie.

Sunday e-mail

I always look forward to checking my e-mail on Sundays because I know this will be in my inbox. This week, these outdoor pillows are on sale. I love 'em!

I heart you Target. I know Caroline has many red-cart rides in her future. We'll be seeing you soon.

Red Hair

I keep having this recurring dream/thought that Caroline is going to have red hair.

Feet

I have felt Caroline's little feet poking around for a couple of months now. I always feel one predominantly on the right side of my belly. I never thought I could be so obsessed with a foot! I am really looking forward to seeing those feet and counting those toes.

O be careful little feet where you go
O be careful little feet where you go
There's a Father up above
And He's looking down in love
So, be careful little feet where you go

Restaurant Talk: Chocolate Angel

Chocolate Angel is located on West Campbell Road in Richardson. It is tucked away a little bit in an unssuming strip center -- you have to know what you're looking for. It is always a treat to have lunch here especially with my good friend Danielle. We both really enjoy the grilled cheese sandwich (it really is uhh-mazing). They also have a yummy little house salad w/ granny smith apples. To drink: lemonade...so refreshing! We lunched here today and Danielle was all set to rush me to the hospital if need be...didn't happen. :)

Part of the fun of going to eat lunch at CA is browsing the cute shops that surround it. I like BeauCoup for Canton-like shopping and Little Lam Boutique for cutie-patootie baby shopping.

CA is also a great location to do a bridal or baby shower. We did a bridal shower for my friend Courtney a couple years ago and it was lovely. They have 2 different rooms to choose from: a small private room and a larger "tea" room.

Baby Ticker

Thank you Lilypie baby ticker for the reminder. We are still playing the waiting game. If Caroline doesn't come on her own, we will head to the hospital at 9:00pm on Tuesday, June 1 to start the induction process. Then, we should be meeting our baby girl on Wednesday, June 2 (our 3rd anniversary). I can't think of a better way to celebrate 3 years of wedded bliss!

Between now & then...

Bow & Arrow

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, “Speak to us of Children.”
And he said:
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The Archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the Archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.
-Kahlil Gibran

I don't know a thing about this guy (he's some old poet I guess, hopefully not a crazy). Nonetheless, I think this is such a lovely way to say that our children do not belong to us. They are simply on loan to us for a while. Jason & I feel tremendously blessed & humbled to be chosen to care for Caroline...to be her stable bow.

And he said: I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:3

The Waiting Game

One of my favorite things about being at home during the week (as opposed to being at work) is getting to enjoy morning TV...

while enjoying a cup of...

Boone & I enjoyed a nice walk this morning.

We are ready for Caroline to join us on our walks, out of my tummy, riding in style in her stroller.

I have been pregnant for 40 weeks as of today. Holy cow! That is over 1/2 a year -- crazy! I have loved being pregnant and I think I will definitely miss it. But I am soo excited to meet this baby girl face to face. On with the show! Bags are (mostly) packed and now we wait...

By the way, BabyCenter.com says Caroline is around the size of a small pumpkin today:

1 day 'til D-Day

Caroline's due date is in 1 day. How did it get here so fast??? Well, I'm not sure how it got here so fast -- but it's here. We can't wait to see her face, count her toes & fingers, and memorize every little dimple & roll. Everyone is so excited to meet you Caroline! While I patiently wait for D-Day to arrive (I really think I have more than 1 day to go though), I have some of this in my near future...

ALDI is my new favorite place to buy groceries -- and $2.99 bottles of wine.

I am hoping to find several essential non-essentials with a trip to Target.

I am going to spend lots of Q-time with this guy.

I will be spraying on layers of this while I enjoy some pool time at the in-law's.

My Goodbye Letter to LOST

Dear LOST,
I am about to watch your last episode ever. I will truly miss your confusing ways. I will miss your flashbacks, flashfowards, and flash-sideways. I will miss the disappointing feeling I always felt at the end of every episode when that little red robot popped onto the screen -- signaling the end of yet another mind-blowing episode. I will miss our Tuesday night tradition of LOST and $.50 wings from WingStop. I will miss you dearly!

XOXO,
Your #1 Fan

Restaurant Talk: All Good Cafe

In the past, I have only ventured over to the delicious All Good Cafe when Adam Carroll is playing. I usually get the grilled chicken nachos and they are yummy. Jason, Jordan, and I went to the All Good Cafe for dinner on Friday night.

A local band was playing, the crowd was good, and there was a new sandwich section on the menu that included a grilled cheese sandwich on sourdough bread full of green chilies and roma tomatoes. Paired with chips & green salsa and an A&W root beer -- it was more than satisfying. I finished off my meal with a scoop of vanilla Blue Bell ice-cream with chocolate syrup. Deeeeelicious. It was made even better by the fact that I didn't get heartburn! This is one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas to A) eat good food and B) listen to good music.
